(Aurora, Ind.) - Some holiday cheer was spread this past Saturday in Aurora.

The Laughery Valley FOP Lodge #146 held its annual Cops and Kids program at the Aurora Walmart.

Attending were officers from Dearborn and Ohio County Sheriff's office, Indiana State Police, Aurora Police, Dillsboro Police, Lawrenceburg Police, Greendale Police, West Harrison Police, Dearborn County Coroner's Office, retired members of the FOP and the Laughery Vally FOP Auxiliary, and members of Women Armed and Ready.

A total of $40,000 was spent to provide clothing and toys for 282 children in Dearborn and Ohio counties. Each child received $120 in clothing and essentials and $30 in toys.

The local FOP holds a golf fundraiser during the year to help provide funds for this program, as well as a gun raffle that is held each year. Donations also contribute to the success of the program.

The main contributors are grants through the Dearborn Community Foundation, Ohio County Community Foundation, Moores Hill American Legion, Professional Pallets in Greendale, the City of Greendale, All-American Car Wash in Aurora, and Hollywood Casino.
