CINCINNATI – Coney Island and the Sunlite Pool have been sold.

Music and Event Management Inc. (MEMI), a subsidiary of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, which also operates the park's neighbor Riverbend, has purchased the park with the intention of building a new $118 million music venue.

The goal is to create “the nation’s best amphitheater.”

MEMI hopes the new entertainment campus will position Cincinnati among top-tier cities and give it a competitive edge in hosting major music acts.

The entertainment complex will complement existing facilities on the live music campus with Riverbend Music Center and PNC Pavilion.

Plans for the facility include a state-of-the-art sound system, cutting-edge performance technology and best-in-class amenities.

The preliminary design is in progress.

Coney Island and Sunlite Pool will close permanently following the last night of its Nights of Lights holiday event on Sunday, December 31.
