By City of Lawrenceburg, news release

The agreement stems from a lawsuit dating back to 2018.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - On February 13, 2018, Lawrenceburg Municipal Utilities (LMU) filed a lawsuit in Dearborn Circuit Court against Anchor Lawrenceburg 1, LLC (Anchor) and Brian Scott Hale (Hale) alleging, among other counts, that Anchor and/or Hale, as the owner/principal of Dearborn Plaza, consumed electricity from LMU and did not pay LMU for that electricity or have LMU’s consent to use that electricity resulting in an alleged theft of power from LMU.

LMU’s source of information upon which it based the allegations in the lawsuit, including the theft allegation, was a former employee who LMU has since terminated. During the course of the litigation and further investigation, LMU has determined any allegations of wrongdoing against Scott Hale and Anchor were proven to be false and did not support continuing the lawsuit against Hale and Anchor for any of the claims including the claim of theft of power.

LMU no longer believes Hale or Anchor committed a theft of electricity or any of the other allegations contained in the lawsuit. Once LMU made its determination, LMU took immediate action to attempt to resolve the matter to the satisfaction of Anchor and Hale. Accordingly, LMU will be dismissing all claims against Anchor and Hale.

The above-stated corrective action is the type of action LMU takes when necessary to protect its valued customers.
