(Greendale, Ind.) - After gathering public input, the City of Greendale has named their unique fisherman-style lamppost at Schnebelt Park.

Receiving the most votes was the name "Art", which is short for Arthur Schnebelt, the namesake whose generous land donation created the park we know today.

The fisherman-style lamppost is a fitting addition to the park, which annually host the Kids Fishing Derby each Fourth of July.

While the lamppost will be known as "Art", the name Tanner emerged as a heartfelt and meaningful runner-up. Tanner Hennen was a young man who loved fishing and whose life ended far too soon.

In honor of Tanner's memory, Mayor Vince Karsteter has directed the installation of a memorial bench near the Greendale Utility Building.

"We're proud to be part of a community that not only values its history, but also honors its people with compassion and care. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped shape this meaningful outcome," reads a statement from the City of Greendale.
