City Of Batesville Donates Nearly $3,000 To MMH

The money raised was donated to the Margaret Mary Health wig program.

(Batesville, Ind.) - Yesterday, December 2, the City of Batesville presented a check of $2,800 to Margaret Mary Health (MMH).

These funds were raised during No Shave November, which is a month-long initiative where male City employees skip shaving to raise awareness for MMH wig program for cancer patients.

This program was launched by Batesville police and fire departments. Strict policies by the departments were waived for the month to encourage participation.

When other departments showed interest in the initiative, No Shave November became a city-wide effort.

“Whether it was a police officer, water or street department employee, if you saw them with facial hair last month then they made a donation to this special program,” said Mayor Mike Bettice. “Cancer has impacted probably every family in our community in one form or another and this is one small way we were able to support Margaret Mary’s efforts.”

Participants donated money that is usually spent on shaving expenses to MMH's wig program throughout November. The public was also invited to donate to the cause.

“We are so grateful to everyone who raised funds for our cancer services through No-Shave November. Not only did City employees raise money for our wig program, they also raised awareness. We are truly fortunate to be a part of a community that bands together to support one another,” said Tim Putnam, President and CEO of Margaret Mary Health.
