(Aurora, Ind.) – The City of Aurora has named a new city manager.
Derek Walker has been selected to take over the City Manager position left vacant by Guinevere Emery, who recently accepted the Communications Director position with the City of Lawrenceburg.
Walker, a southeastern Indiana native, is a Ball State University graduate with a bachelor and master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning and Development.
The new city manager has worked in the planning and zoning office for the Dearborn County Government for over four years.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with Mayor Drury and the City Administration as we work to build upon recent momentum,” said Walker. “My focus will be working to make Aurora a place that people enjoy living within and visiting and a place that businesses are able to successfully expand and thrive. I'll look to highlight and build upon the unique assets that give the city a competitive advantage.”
Walker added that he looks forward to meeting with city employees, local leaders and residents to better understand ways to make Aurora the most it can be.
