Cincinnati Man Returns To Tri-State After Nationwide Bike Ride

90 days and 6,500 miles later, Joe Motz finishes his bike ride for a good cause.

(Cincinnati, Oh.) - A Cincinnati man has dedicated his past three months to bringing awareness to Parkinson's Disease.  

By Thursday, November 7, Joe Motz will have biked a total of 6,500 miles to celebrate his 65 birthday and raise money for Gearing Up For Good.

He teamed up with The University of Cincinnati Center for Integrative Health and Wellness and the UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute to help the improvement the health and well-being of those with Parkinson’s. 

Motz is hoping to raise $300,000 on his ride for the "development of the pilot and the first in a series of satellite health and wellness programs throughout the Cincinnati Region to help those with Parkinson’s and other neurological diseases such Alzheimer’s, Multiple Sclerosis and Frontotemporal Dementia."

To date, he has raised just under $250,000.

Motz has been on the road since August 2, and will celebrate his return will a Homecoming event at Big Ash Brewing on Thursday. 

On the final days of his journey, Motz will travel through Eagle Country. Over the next couple of days, you might see him on State Route 350 from Milan to Aurora, on the Dearborn County Trail from George Street bridge to Front Street in Lawrenceburg, or on U.S. 50 towards Ohio.
