(Cincinnati, Oh.) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in Cincinnati stopped a total of $374,020 in counterfeit phone cases and phone fronts last week.

On August 14, officers found 7,500 phone cases and 2,040 phone fronts coming from China and heading to individuals in El Salvador and Laredo, Texas.

The phone cases and fronts had been labeled as Apple and Samsung. Black tape was placed over the brand name to avoid a complete inspection.

Additionally, these shipments were manifested as “Plastic LCD” with listed values under $500 per shipment.

“Counterfeit goods can significantly impact consumer health and safety, and can damage legitimate trade,” said Cincinnati Port Director Richard Gillespie. “Our officers work hard to protect the U.S. economy and keep our citizens safe.”
