(Dearborn County, Ind.) - A police chase caused a school lockdown in Milan and ended with the suspect being injured in a crash.

The pursuit began in Dearborn County at around noon when deputies attempted to stop a Cadillac driven by Jeremiah Hill, 32, of Milan. Hill was wanted on warrants for probation violation and escape, says Sheriff Shane McHenry.

Hill allegedly fled on West County Line Road. He wrecked there, but was able to continue fleeing into Ripley County.

McHenry says Hill later crashed on County Road 625 East in Ripley County. Injured in one of the wrecks, he was transported to Highpoint Health and later transferred to University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

As the chase neared Milan, Milan Community Schools ordered a security alert at its school buildings. The alert was lifted after only about 15 minutes. A notice of the lockdown was sent to parents stating that no students were in any danger.

The Dearborn County Sheriff’s office was assisted by the Dillsboro Police DEPT, ISP, Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, Milan PD and Moores Hill PD.

Hill was charged last year for allegedly smuggling meth into the Dearborn County jail.
