Sunman, Versailles, Vevay, and other small towns have town board and clerk-treasurer elections this year.

The filing period to run in a town convention began in January and runs through Thursday, August 1 at noon. Candidates can file at their county’s clerk of courts office.
Unlike county, state and national elections, there is no May primary election for town positions in towns with populations of less than 3,500.
For the November general election, each political party can name three candidates to run for town board and one candidate to run for clerk-treasurer. If more than the maximum number of candidates file to run under a party, the party holds a caucus to decide its general election candidate or candidates to appear on the ballot.
If the maximum number of candidates is not reached by the August 1 filing deadline, a political party can fill the vacancy prior to the November 5 election.
