Buildings Project Update Given at Tuesday's SD School Board Meeting

Lots of exciting improvements are being completed across the school corporation.

(Aurora, Ind.) - Some big improvements are being made at South Dearborn Community Schools.

At Tuesday's regularly scheduled school board meeting, updates were given on the buildings projects across the school corporation.

The high school has undergone some changes including new classroom flooring and lighting, which has been completed. New flooring is also near completion in the cafeteria.

Work is ongoing to create a space for an in-school coffee shop. The school corporation has ordered equipment such as a refrigerator, ice maker, etc.

The high school gymnasium has undergone a facelift with the installation of new bleachers. The bleachers feature SD colors and logos. A new scoreboard with LED boards is another upgrade that has been completed.

Student-athletes will also enjoy a new training room that has doubled in size, and updated locker rooms. A new weight room is expected to be completed by the start of the 2023-24 school year.

Other work that is ongoing includes flooring upgrades at the middle school, improvements to the main offices and library at Aurora Elementary, and new playgrounds at Dillsboro and Aurora elementary schools.

Playground equipment is expected to be delivered to Dillsboro in about two months. Demolition has started at Aurora.
