(Dillsboro, Ind.) - A new owner is expected to bring new life to Browning's Campground.

Kevin Wang officially took over as the owner of the campground on Tuesday.

His first order of business was announcing a change in name from Browning's Campground to Wheelock Lake Campground. The name comes from Ripley Wheelock, the namesake of Ripley County.

"The county got the first name, I got the last name," said Wang, who credited the joke to his golf partner, Billy Shelton.

Wang tells Eagle Country 99.3 that he has big plans to enhance the appeal of the campground, located at 3622 E Co Rd 200 South in Ripley County. His plans include zip lines, cabins, a new restaurant, and potentially a sand beach.

However, the next three to six months will be spent brining the campground up to compliance with the state. Wang added that while there are campers currently on the grounds, no new campers will be brought into the campground until its up to compliance.

"We are going to need community support," said Wang. "It's a big project and we are going to turn this into an attraction place that will benefit the whole county, the whole area, the whole region. We'll be one of the largest campgrounds around and I think the local community will benefit from it."

Wang says he has gotten a lot of great feedback from community members that are excited to make new memories at Wheelock Lake Campground.

He expects to be open to new campers next season.
