Brookville Sportsplex Construction Underway

The Brookville Sportsplex will sit adjacent to Brookville Town Park.

(Brookville, Ind.) - After reaching a fundraising goal, construction of the Brookville Sportsplex is underway.

The Brookville Sportsplex will sit adjacent to Brookville Town Park and will feature eight ADA compliant pickleball courts, fencing around the courts, gates, benches and canopies for shade.

Once finished, the Sportsplex will be a welcome addition to the area that already features the Heap Hofer Aquatic Center and the Shillilng Community Center.

RELATEDFundraising Goal Met for Brookville Sportsplex

The Sportsplex project will convert a blighted parcel of town property into an attractive and useful addition. Plans for the site include restrooms and lighting. Another section of the property where the salt dome sits, will be developed to include additional amenities that have yet to be determined.

A few years ago, the Brookville Pickelball Club learned that a property at the corner of 9th and Mill Street in Brookville would be acquired by the town. Club members went to Town Council requesting that the area be designated for pickleball. Council agreed and asked the club to develop a plan.

Last October, a fundraising goal was met to green light the project.

Tax deductible donations can still be sent to the Franklin County Community Foundation (Sports Plex Fund), 527 Main St., Brookville, IN 47012.

Community members are invited to the IGA Cookout on Friday, April 11 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Sportsplex project.
