(Brookville, Ind.) - Gregory Guilfoyle was sentenced to 100 years behind bars on Monday.
Guilfoyle went on trial for Attempted Murder in April, stemming from an incident in 2022 where he allegedly shot his wife at their home on Colonial Heights Road.
He proceeded to run outdoors in freezing temperatures with their 23-month-old daughter and shot a Sheriff's Deputy near the intersection of State Road 1 and U.S. 52.
The deputy returned fire, striking Guilfoyle. He was seriously injured and is now a paraplegic with limited use of one of his arms.
The child was unharmed and was taken into the custody of the Indiana Department of Child Services.
Guilfoyle, a former Green Hills Police Officer, pleaded insanity but the jury dismissed the defense and found Guilfoyle guilty of eight charges, including Attempted Murder and Neglect of a Dependent.
