A Lawrenceburg man and a Cincinnati woman were hospitalized in Thursday’s morning’s crash which closed I-275 near the Greendale exit.

Dearborn County Sheriff's deputies say 30-year-old Amanda Young was heading southbound on I-275 when, according to her, another vehicle began to drift into her lane. Young’s Toyota RAV 4 went off the roadway and cut through the median. It continued into the northbound lanes, where it struck head-on a Dodge Challenger driven by 37-year-old Jason Wells.

Both drivers were sent to Highpoint Health Hospital in Lawrenceburg with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening.

The wreck closed I-275 at the Greendale exit for more than an hour yesterday.

Two people were injured when a vehicle crossed the media into oncoming traffic on Interstate 275 near the Lawrenceburg/Greendale exit Monday morning.

According to Dearborn County Sheriff's deputy Jacob Bunner, the driver of a Toyota RAV4 said they were heading southbound in the passing lane near the entrance ramp at around 7:30 a.m. when a vehicle in the next lane began to drift into the passing lane. Although it is not believed the two vehicles collided, the Rav 4 was forced off the roadway into the median.

The small SUV crossed the median and into the northbound lanes, where it struck an oncoming Dodge Challenger.

The drivers of the RAV4 and the Challenger were transported by ambulance to Highpoint Health Hospital in Lawrenceburg with injuries which were not believed to be life-threatening. Air Care was requested but could not respond, Bunner said.

The victims' names have not been released. There were no other occupants of the vehicles beside the drivers.

The vehicle which may have forced the RAV4 off the roadway continued on or may have briefly pulled over. Bunner said that investigators would like to speak with that driver, but he adds that the sheriff's department is not looking at charges for that vehicle. The vehicle was a black or dark colored passenger car, possibly a Buick Century or Chevrolet Malibu. The driver is asked to contact the Dearborn County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Greendale Police Department, Greendale Fire Department, Greendale EMS, and Lawrenceburg Emergency Rescue.

All lanes of I-275 westbound have reopened at the crash scene near the Lawrenceburg/Greendale exit. The residual backup extends to Petersburg, Kentucky.
