Boone Co. Schools To Close For Up To A Month

The announcement comes after Governor Beshear declared a State of Emergency due to Coronavirus.

(Boone County, Ky.) - Due to a State of Emergency called by Governor Andy Beshear, Boone County Schools will not have in-person class for over a month.

Superintendent Randy Poe announced Wednesday that all Boone County Schools will close between Monday, March 16 up to Monday, April 20.

During that time, instruction will be delivered for all students during the day while at home. If the State of Emergency is lifted before then, classes will resume.

All Boone County students will be required to be at school on Thursday, March 12 to receive instructions from their teachers and principals.

"We are taking these measures after Governor Beshear declared a State of Emergency in Kentucky and in accordance with the guidelines put out by the Northern Kentucky Health Department," said Poe. "Non-traditional instruction and event cancellations are being done out of an abundance of caution and to help stem the tide of the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Your child's health and safety are our first priority."
