The tobacco-free schools bill was signed into law in April.
(Boone County, Ky.) – Boone County Schools are being recognized for a new tobacco-free policy.
Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky CEO Ben Chandler and Kentucky Medical Association President Dr. Brent Wright will be in Boone County Monday to present school officials and students with tobacco-free signage, reports the NKY Tribune.
In April, the tobacco-free schools bill was signed into law. The law requires schools to adopt policies that prohibit the use of tobacco products (including e-cigarettes) on all school property and vehicles. The policy also requires school districts to post signage.
Boone County Schools is being recognized as one of the first northern Kentucky school districts to adopt the policy.
Other districts have until July 1, 2020 to adopt the policy.
