(St. Leon, Ind.) - Taxpayers in the Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools district can learn about a proposed multi-million dollar facilities improvement project at the schools this week.

The school corporation and engineers have identified between $25 million and $48 million in upgrades which could be made. The items range from new roofs to a new high school swimming pool.

District administrators will hold three public presentations Monday and Tuesday, August 5 and 6. The first is Monday at 7:00 p.m. There are two presentations Tuesday at 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. Each will be held at the East Central High School Performing Arts Center.

Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools superintendent Andrew Jackson has said the building projects could be funded without raising property taxes from their current rates.

Further details of the project, potential tax implications, and how the project could be placed on the ballot are detailed in this story from July 12. The school corporation is also sharing information at https://www.sunmandearborn.k12.in.us/information/2019-feasibility-study.
