Batesville Police Update On Burglary Investigation After Questioning Person Of Interest

Investigators are still looking to make an arrest after seven homes in the city have been burglarized.

(Batesville, Ind.) - Batesville Police say they’ve questioned one person in connection with a string of daytime home burglaries around town.

However, detectives do not believe that person is involved in the crime spree.

Since July, seven homes in Batesville have been broken into by intruders prying open doors and windows. They primarily steal cash and jewelry. The most recent cases took place during the day on Tuesday, November 6 at two homes on Park Place and Hillenbrand Avenue.

All the break-ins are likely connected, according to police.

Following the break-ins last week, investigators released a photo of a man they wanted to question. They did identify and speak with him, but do not believe he is involved in the burglaries.

Batesville Police Chief Stan Holt says his department will continue to aggressively investigate these cases and will use all resources available to apprehend the person, or people, responsible.

Holt also stresses the importance of citizens reporting suspicious activity immediately while it’s occurring. The Batesville Police Department can be reached by calling (812) 934-3131.

BPD has also asked citizens to ensure that their homes are secure.
