(Batesville, Ind.) – Inspiration Park and Collaboration Corner could become popular spots in the City of Batesville, with the help from its citizens.

Main Street Batesville has launched a fundraiser in hopes of making the gathering spaces a reality.

The goal is to raise $50,000, which would be matched by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority. To date, over $13,000 has been raised.

The first space, Inspiration Park, would honor visionary women who have helped shape Batesville. The inaugural honorees for 2020 are: Margaret Hillenbrand, Mary Mitchell, Jane Yorn, Jolene Rockwood, and Roberta Cook.

Inspiration Park would be located in the parking area adjacent to George Street, which is currently known as “The Bike Park”.

Plans for the gathering space include an outdoor seating area with privacy and shade and illuminated art sculptures.

Collaboration Corner would be nearby at the intersection of George and Main streets. Batesville Main Street first envisioned the space after placing a temporary pop-up park on George Street in 2017.

Both outdoor spaces will be ADA compliant, provide access to Wi-Fi, and serve as a place for friends to meet and enjoy the outdoors.

To make a donation, visit www.patronicity.com. Checks may also be mailed to Batesville Main Street, PO Box 260, Batesville, IN 47006.
