Batesville HS to Hold Informational Session About Indiana's New High School Diploma Requirements

The new high school diploma requirements were approved today.

(Batesville, Ind.) - The Indiana State Board of Education (SBOE) today unanimously approved the final diploma rule, which is designed to maximize the four years of high school for students.

Following the announcement, Batesville High School announced they will host an informational session on Monday, December 16 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Batesville Innovation Center.

Attendees should utilize entrance ICS facing the Football and Track complex.

This session will provide essential details about the new diploma requirements and how they relate to your student's high school journey, in addition to preparing for the upcoming high school scheduling process, which begins in January.

Per statute, Indiana’s current graduation requirements will sunset October 1, 2028, making the new diploma requirements effective for all students beginning with the class of 2029, or students currently in eighth grade. Schools may opt-in beginning with the 2025-2026 school year. Indiana will also continue to offer the federally-required alternate diploma, which is designed for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities.
