The event will be held on Saturday, August 31.

(Aurora, Ind.) - “Play Music on the Porch Day” began with the question, “What if for one day everything stopped…And we all just listened to the music?”

In its 10th year, “Play Music on the Porch Day” is a worldwide event held the last Saturday of August. As of this release there are 1100 registered locations in 23 countries and Aurora was added to the worldwide map by Main Street Aurora.

Main Street Aurora is hosting over 50 musicians at 14 locations throughout downtown Aurora. The event starts at 1pm and continues until 6pm Saturday, August 31st. “We’re thrilled that musicians have been added to an additional location in the alley at 325 Second St. on the 31st as well. Another addition to this year’s event; organists will be playing at 2:00 at First United Methodist Church and St. John Lutheran Church” said Nancy Turner, Main Street Aurora Executive Director.

“Music goes beyond words. It can transcend the most difficult barriers. It ties us together like a thread through our hearts” said founder Brian Mallman a Milwaukee-born, Los Angeles-based artist.

If you’re unable to make it to Aurora, musicians are encouraged to play on their porches, in their yards, “no porch necessary” just find a place to gather and celebrate music.
