Main Street Aurora is hosting nearly 50 musicians at 10 locations throughout downtown Aurora.

(Aurora, Ind.) - “Play Music on the Porch Day” began with the question, “What if for one day everything stopped…And we all just listened to the music?”

In its 11th year, “Play Music on the Porch Day” is a worldwide event held the last Saturday of August. Annually there are 1100+ registered cities in 70 countries and Aurora was added to the worldwide map by Main Street Aurora.

Whether a solo act or group of ten, Main Street Aurora is hosting nearly 50 musicians at 10 locations throughout downtown Aurora. The event starts at 1:00 p.m. and continues until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30.

“We are thrilled to add Gospel Music from Rising Sun Church of Christ on the 30th as well. Another addition to this year’s event; an adult bell choir will be performing at St. John Lutheran Church” said Nancy Turner, Main Street Aurora Executive Director. “Music goes beyond words. It can transcend the most difficult barriers. It ties us together like a thread through our hearts” said founder Brian Mallman a Milwaukee-born, Los Angeles-based artist.

If you’re unable to make it to Aurora, musicians are encouraged to play on their porches, in their yards, “no porch necessary” just find a place to gather and celebrate music.

For a list of musicians and locations follow Main Street Aurora on Facebook @MainStreetAurora or Instagram @MainStreet_Aurora or pick up a flyer at any downtown business.
