Aurora Man Airlifted After Falling From Tree Stand

This is the third time this month a tri-state area hunter has been injured in a tree stand fall.

(Aurora, Ind.) – Another tri-state air hunter was injured after a fall from a tree stand.

Indiana Conservation Officers were dispatched to the 11000 block of North Hogan Road near Aurora around 1:45 p.m. Monday.

Responders say 60-year-old Louis Gehring fell approximately 23 feet while either attempting to hang or remove his elevated tree stand.

Gehring was airlifted from the scene to UC Medical Center with severe injuries to both legs, along with possible internal injuries.

Conservation officers say Gehring was not wearing a full body harness at the time of the fall.

This marks the third hunting accident from an elevated tree stand inside Operational District 9 within a week.
