AUDIO: Lauren's Burg Hill 5K Happens Saturday In Lawrenceburg

There is still time to register with proceeds going towards Lauren's Fight For Cure.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Some run for fun or exercise but come Saturday hundreds will run for a cause.

The fifth annual Lauren’s Burg Hill 5K run/walk and 5-mile takes place Saturday, June 15 at 7:22 a.m.

Both races will begin in downtown Lawrenceburg and end on the 22-yard line of the Lawrenceburg High School football field.

Event organizer Mark Knigga says the event will feature some really great runners but the main focus is to honor the memory of Lauren Hill and raise money for families impacted by pediatric cancer.

“Everybody knows Lauren’s story,” Knigga said. “She’s a great inspiration not only to me but to the community, the nation. Its just something that we feel very passionate about that we want to continue as long as we can. We’ve been blessed by the support of the local business and the community. With out them we couldn’t do it. It’s just something I feel is very important to the area.”

Over the past four years, the Lauren’s Burg Hill 5K has raised over $59,000 for Lauren’s Fight For Cure Foundation.

Knigga says he expects to see between 250 and 300 runners participate on Saturday. To date, 201 runners have pre-registered.

Pre-registration is $30 by 12:22 a.m. Friday morning. The entry fee increases to $40 the day of the race.
