(Sunman, Ind.) - A Sunman resident was hospitalized Friday, March 11 after his side-by-side ATV was hit from behind by an SUV.
Indiana State Police say Harry O. Laker, 84, was driving the Landmaster ATV northbound on Spades Road near County Road 1100 North at around 3:30 Friday afternoon. That’s when the all-terrain vehicle was struck from behind by the 2004 Ford Explorer operated by a 16-year-old driver from Batesville.
Laker was ejected from the ATV and was seriously injured. He was flown to University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
The teen driver was not hurt.
The crash investigation is ongoing, but state police say alcohol or drugs are not suspected factors.
The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, Ripley County EMS, and Sunman Rural Fire Department assisted at the scene.
