(Ripley County, Ind.) - One person has been arrested after allegedly firing a handgun from a vehicle.

On Monday, the Ripley County Sheriff's Office was called to a report of a female shooting from her vehicle at South Benham Road and East County Road 300 South.

Investigators say Mercedes Boyd, 29, was traveling behind a vehicle and fired a handgun in the direction of that vehicle.

A traffic stop was initiated on South Benham Road near South Ripley Schools, which prompted the school system to issue an alert to parents.

It is believed that the incident was brought on by a domestic dispute involving the two vehicles. No injuries were reported.

Boyd was detained less than six minutes after the initial dispatch. She is charged with Criminal Recklessness with a Firearm (Level 6 Felony), Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Paraphernalia.
