Accused Virginia Rally Attacker, NKY Native Charged With Hate Crimes

(Undated) - The man who drove his car through a group of protestors in Charlottesville last year is facing additional charges. 

James Alex Fields Jr. is accused of driving a vehicle into a group of protesters at the white nationalist rally this past August.

The attack left 32-year-old Heather Heyer dead and 19 other injured. Fields, a former Cooper High School student, was charged in August with second-degree murder and five counts of malicious wounding…

On Wednesday, The Enquirer reported that the Department of Justice has indicted Fields on 29 hate crimes, one for the death of Heyer, and 28 more for those injured in the incident.
