8th Annual Fire Truck Pull To Benefit Special Olympics Returns To Lawrenceburg This Summer

Registration is open for the event.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Special Olympics Indiana - Ripley Ohio Dearborn Counties is gearing up for one of its biggest fundraisers of the year.

In partnership with the Lawrenceburg Fire Department and the City of Lawrenceburg, the 8th annual Fire Truck Pull returns to downtown Lawrenceburg on Saturday, August 14.

Teams of 15 or less will compete for the bragging rights in the ultimate tug-of-war with a 74,000 pound fire truck. Each team raises a minimum of $500 in pledges to see who can pull the fire truck 50 feet in the shortest amount of time

All the proceeds from the event will go to support the organization's mission to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in more than 20 Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, reaching 256 athletes throughout Ripley, Ohio, and Dearborn counties.

While there will be plenty of fun at the Fire Truck Pull, the event will also be educational. Festivities will include a "Safety Town" which features activities such as fire and severe weather safety, child ID, water safety and more.
