5th Grader Took Gun To School

(Hanover, Ind.) - On the same day two students were killed in a school shooting in northeast Ohio Monday, a school in southeast Indiana had to deal with a gun incident.

Hanover Police tell 95.3 WIKI that a student took an unloaded handgun to Southwestern Elementary in Hanover.

There was no further incident once the .25 caliber gun was discovered.

Southwestern Consolidated Schools superintendent Steve Telfers said the male fifth grade student will be recommended for expulsion. He has already been suspended for 10 days.

Police Chief Ron Kroger said charges will be filed against that male student.

The school district notified parents of the incident with a letter on Monday.
