64 New Homes Proposed For Batesville

Local developers want to build a new neighborhood near the Kroger store.

(Batesville, Ind.) - A proposed new subdivision in Batesville is being considered by city leaders.

Developers Charlie Gillman and Luke Pierson are proposing a 64-lot housing development on about 25 acres just west of the Kroger grocery store, The Batesville Herald-Tribune reports.

The homes would each be 1,200 to 1,500 square feet and priced at under $200,000. The entrance to the new neighborhood would be the access road between Kroger and Hampton Inn.

The developer’s engineering consultant, Lawrenceburg-based Land Consultants, has asked the City of Batesville Plan Commission for three variances concerning the elimination of sidewalks, a narrower street, and storm drainage.

Two of the variances for 22-foot-wide streets and the drainage were granted by the commission at their April 4 meeting. The developer agreed to keep sidewalks in the development if granted the variance for narrower streets.
