(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Staci Knigga is stepping away from coaching.

Knigga today announced her resignation after 23 seasons as the Lawrenceburg volleyball varsity head coach,

"This decision has been far from easy as I have cherished every moment of building this program, creating lifelong relationships, and sharing in our victories, both on and off the court," said Knigga.

In just the last four seasons, Knigga led the Tigers to a 96-27 record. Overall, Knigga led Lawrenceburg to over 500 wins, eight sectional titles and eight conference championships, including two outright EIAC titles.

Part of Knigga's decision to step away from coaching is due to her children soon becoming college athletes. Natalie is set to continue her volleyball career at Saint Mary of the Woods College, while Noah is signed to play college football at Eastern Michigan University.

"At this time, my heart is leading me to focus on my children as they continue their collegiate athletic journeys. Volleyball has been a central part of my life since I was 10 years old, so this transition will be an adjustment for me. While I am stepping away from coaching, I remain passionate about the sport and am more than willing to assist or support the new head coach in any capacity they may need, or step aside entirely to let them shape their own path," said Knigga.

The next head coach will inherit a roster with five returning letter winners.
