Romeo Langford Commits To IU

Indiana University's basketball team will be joined by one of the most-coveted high school players in some time.

(New Albany, Ind.) - Romeo Langford, arguably the best high school basketball player in the nation, is going to continue his playing career in Indiana.

The 6’5” New Albany High School senior announced Monday that he will attend Indiana University next fall – which will please many of the Hoosier fans who packed high school gyms across southern Indiana to watch him play this past season.

Langford, who averaged 35.5 points in 2017-18, is Indiana's reigning Mr. Basketball, announced over the weekend by The Indianapolis Star. With more than 3,000 career points in Indiana high school ball, he is fourth all-time on the state’s scoring list.

He was heavily recruited by Indiana University, as well as the University of Louisville and the University of Kentucky. Langford says he chose IU to be a part of something special.

At New Albany, Langford played under head coach Jim Shannon, a former head coach at South Dearborn High School.

“We’ve arguably got one of the best players to ever play in the state of Indiana, up there with the greatest names of all time. He really put our school on the map,” Shannon told Inside the Hall following Langford’s announcement.

The top-ranked high school shooting guard will join new coach Archie Miller’s IU Hoosiers next fall. IU went 16-15 last season.
