Rising Sun's Merica Named to Class 1A All-State Team; Rouse, Lanning Earn Honorable Mention

The IHSBCA announced their All-State Teams for the 2022 season on Monday.

INDIANAPOLIS - Three high school baseball stars from southeastern Indiana have earned All-State honors from the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association (IHSBCA). 

The IHSBCA released their 2022 All-State Teams on Monday. 

Rising Sun junior Peyton Merica was named to the Class 1A All-State Team as a pitcher. Merica went 7-2 with a 0.61 ERA, 102 strikeouts, and 18 walks, while only giving up six earned runs in 69.1 innings pitched. 

Although he wasn't recognized as a position player, Merica performed well at the plate, hitting .382 over 98 plate appearances. 

EIAC Co-MVP Brayden Rouse made Class 4A Honorable Mention. As a sophomore, the East Central Trojans star hit .521 with 5 home runs, 26 RBIs and 27 runs scored. 

Fellow EIAC All-Conference selection Drew Lanning was named Class 3A Honorable Mention. The Lawrenceburg Tigers senior was among the top pitchers in the state, going 3-4 with a 0.78 ERA and 114 strikeouts in 53.1 innings pitched.
