Mason Parris Pins Gold At Junior World Championships

Mason Parris won the heavyweight division at the Junior World Championships in Estonia on Wednesday.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Lawrenceburg High School graduate and University of Michigan wrestler Mason Parris is a three-time state champion.

Now, he can call himself a world champion.

Parris, a heavyweight, has been wrestling this week at the Junior World Championships in Estonia. On Wednesday, he defeated Iran’s Amir Hossein Abbas Zare in the championship match by pinfall at 1:19 in the first period.

He made his way to the heavyweight final on Wednesday by outscoring his previous opponents 33-2.

Parris will bring back to the U.S. the gold medal from the Junior World Championships. His sophomore season for the Wolverines will begin in a few months.

Might some other medals be in his future?
