Local Sports Report - October 19 & 20

South Ripley's Megan Cole is going to the IHSAA Cross Country State Finals.

 

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 19

 

FOOTBALL

IHSAA 4A Sectional 23 – First Round

East Central 41, Franklin County 6 – East Central quarterback Alex Maxwell accounted for three touchdowns, passing for 21 yards and a score to David Badescu and running for 125 more yards and two TDs. Eric Rosemeyer tallied 154 rush yards and a touchdown. Jake Fike had 34 rushing yards with a score. Evan Greiwe led the defense with six tackles and two sacks. Chase Ludwig made two interceptions. East Central will play against South Dearborn in the sectional semi-final on Friday, October 26.

South Dearborn 48, Jennings County 16 – South Dearborn advances to play East Central in the sectional semi-final on Friday, October 26.

Edgewood 28, Madison 19

IHSAA 3A Sectional 31 – First Round

Lawrenceburg 22, North Harrison 14 – Eagle Country 99.3 Feature Game – Lawrenceburg advances to meet Batesville in the sectional semi-finals on Friday, October 26.

Batesville 59, Greensburg 19 – Batesville will play Lawrenceburg in the sectional semi-finals on Friday, October 26.

Triton Central 28, Milan 10 – Milan’s season ends with a 6-4 record.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20

 

CROSS COUNTRY

IHSAA Cross Country Semi-State at Shelbyville

South Ripley’s Megan Cole will end her senior season by competing at the IHSAA Cross Country State Finals.

Cole placed 18th at the IHSAA Semi-State meet at Shelbyville on Saturday to earn a spot at the state meet. She crossed the finish line at 18:51.  

Fellow Raider Elyse Hunger, a senior, was 132nd with a time of 21:33.

Franklin County’s Lauren Kelly ran well, but did not make the cut for the state meet. The sophomore Wildcat placed 39th with a new personal record of 19:30.

Batesville’s Elizabeth Loichinger, a junior, was 51st with a time of 19:49, ending her season at semi-state. The Lady Bulldogs team, which all appeared at the meet, placed 13th in the team standings.

Two East Central teammates competed at semi-state. Emilee Wedding was 94th at 20:44 while Emma Fey was 106th at 20:59.

In the boys race, Jac-Cen-Del’s Damon Hughes ran a personal best race at 16:56, coming in 71st. Batesville’s team finish of 19th was led by Benjamin Moster’s time of 17:25, coming in 108th.

IHSAA Cross Country Semi-state at Brown County

Switzerland County’s Leah Anders wrapped up a great high school running career at the IHSAA Semi-State meet at Brown County on Saturday. Anders placed 68th with a time of 20:39.
