IHSAA 2A Sectional 45 at South Ripley – Semi-Finals

Southwestern 3, Milan 0 – Milan was limited to just three hits with no walks in the game.

SOFTBALL

IHSAA 1A Sectional 60 at Rising Sun – Championship

Rising Sun 11, Hauser 1 – The Shiners became sectional champions thanks to home runs from Lindsay Montgomery and Cora Poling. Each player had 4 hits to knock in 3 runs for Rising Sun. Abby Wallace was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. Sydney Pitts pitched a 7-inning complete game with 8 strikeouts, 4 hits, a walk, and an earned run. Rising Sun moved on to the IHSAA 1A Regional on Tuesday, May 28.

 

 

TRACK & FIELD

IHSAA Boys Track & Field Regional at Warren Central

Milan’s Matthew Reihle, Batesville’s Adam Moster, and East Central’s 4x400 meter relay team became regional champions at the IHSAA Boys Track & Field Regional meet held at Warren Central High School on Thursday. The wins punch their tickets to the IHSAA State Finals on May 31.

Riehle, a Milan junior, won the 400 meter dash regional championship with a time of 49.52 seconds.

Batesville’s Moster, a junior, took the 800 meter run with a time of 1:57.29.

Alex Hornbach, Clayton Deitsch, Erik Perkins, and Chase Ludwig ran the 4x400 faster than any other team with a time of 3:24.94.

Several other East Central athletes finished second or third in their events to also earn berths at the IHSAA State Finals:

100 meter dash – Alex Hornbach, East Central, 2nd at 10.84

4x100 meter relay – East Central (Erik Perkins, Chase Ludwig, Keiton Goeldner, and Alex Hornbach), 2nd at 43.10

High jump – Malachi Studer, East Central, 2nd at 6’4.5”

East Central was fourth in the team standings at the regional meet. Warren Central won the meet team title with 81.5 points. Center grove was second at 67.5, Columbus North third at 66 and EC fourth with 54 points.

East Central defeated Batesville on Thursday, 193-200.
