CROSS COUNTRY

Submitted by Lisa Gausman

The Batesville High School Cross Country team traveled to Greensburg tonight to compete in the 4-way meet against Greensburg, North Decatur and South Decatur. It was a beautiful night for running and the Bulldogs definitely took advantage of it.  The girls stepped up to the line first and Batesville finished with a perfect score claiming the first 7 spots and also captured 9th and 10th.  Yes, scoring just 15 points to Greensburg's 66, just nudging out North Decatur with 70 and South Decatur had 97.  Leading the way for the Bulldogs and winning the meet was senior Kaylynn Bedel with a time of 21:19.  She was followed closely by Lexiyne Harris (21:31). Taking the next 5 places were: Jayla Bedel (21:56), Paige Allgeier (22:17), Hilary Ziegler (22:29), Sam Adams (22:38) and Caitlin Raver (22:45). Finishing out the top 10 were Maycee Holtkamp in 9th (23:34) and Bayleigh Demaree in 10th (23:53).  Way to go ladies!

Next the gun went off for the boys and their finishes were almost as impressive.  Although they did not score a perfect score, they were close and had 7 individuals in the top 10. Batesville scored a low 19 points to Greensburg's 42. North Decatur was 3rd with 87 to South Decatur at 111 points.  Leading the Bulldogs for the boys and earning that blue ribbon was Senior Jake Chapman with a time of 17:22. He was followed by teammates Cannon Clark (17:47) and Isaac Trossman (18:12). Then crossing the finish line all within about 30 seconds of each other, placing 6th-9th place were: Cash Myers (19:04), Levi Essick (19:09), Jaden Basler (19:23) and Ethan Rahschulte (19:36). Way to go boys!

The Bulldogs also had 14 personal bests achieved tonight and they were: Maycee Hotlkamp, Jayla Bedel, Hilary Ziegler, Caitlin Raver, Reillee Adams, Jade Martin, Gianna Franklin, Aubree Spurlock, Levi Essick, Ryan Benz, Abe Trossman, Varshath Rajesh, Tripp Hertel and Nicholas Tirado.
