Hopper, Wismann, Labazzo, Hartman, Martin 2023 EIAC Soccer MVPs

East Central boys and girls were conference champs this season.

(St. Leon, Ind.)  - Forty-eight high school soccer stars have been recognized by the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference.

The EIAC released their 2023 Fall Sports All-Conference Teams this week.

In girls soccer, East Central’s Olivia Hopper and South Dearborn’s Bernadette Wismann were named 2023 EIAC Offensive MVPs. For Hopper, it is her third EIAC Offensive MVP award.

The Lady Trojans star and Indiana State University commit totaled 23 goals and 23 assists, helping EC to a 17-2-1 record, an EIAC title, and a sectional championship. Hopper will leave EC as their all-time leading goal scorer.

Hopper was joined on the All-Conference Team by Payge Callahan, Rylee Schloss, Ava Leihgeber, Lexi Watkins, and Anna Black.

Bernadette Wismann, an IUPUI commit, earned Co-MVP honors by scoring 21 goals and assisting on 17 more. Teammates Jenna Hufford and Sophie Ferguson also make All-Conference.

Lawrenceburg sophomore Aubree Labazzo was named the EIAC Defensive MVP for a second consecutive season. Labazzo anchored a Lady Tigers defense that allowed only 14 goals in 22 matches.

Labazzo was joined on the All-Conference Team by teammates Kelsey Offutt, Morgan Manford, Preslee Rugg, and Hailey Knippenberg.

On the boys side, East Central’s Evan Hartman was named the 2023 EIAC Defensive MVP. Hartman, a sophomore, led a Trojans defense that surrendered just eight goals in 20 matches.

East Central had five other All-Conference selections in Brennan Lewis, CJ Inderhees, Jacob Gagnon, Nathan McFee, and Colton West.

Connersville’s Jasper Martin earned 2023 EIAC Offensive MVP with 27 goals and 12 assists.

The EIAC Soccer Coaches of the Year are Bill Volker and BJ Black, both of East Central.
