Hawkins, Nicholson Winners at Indian Trails 5K

Five of the six SIRC races are in the books.

(Milan, Ind.) - Joe Hawkins put on an incredible performance at the Indian Trails 5K.

The 17-year-old from Greensburg crossed the finish line with a time of 15:35, which was a 1:02 faster than second-place Lucas Cooney (16:37), of Milan High School. Fellow Indian Gabe Riehle placed third with a time of 17:02. 

Lane Nicholson, 21, of Versailles, was the top female performer, placing 11th overall with a time of 18:17. Alisha Detmer, 21, of Patriot, was second among females and 14th overall (18:27), while Hannah Morgan, 23, of Lawrenceburg, was third in the female division (20:55). 

After five races, Bradyn Hatton, 18, of Lawrenceburg, leads the overall male competition with an average time of 17:50. Fellow Lawrenceburg native Bryan Wagner, 41, trails behind Hatton with an average time of 18:01. 

Alisha Detmer continues to lead the overall female competition with an average time of 18:50. Lanie Nicholson is within striking distance at 19:09. 

The sixth and final Southeastern Indiana Racing Circuit event takes place Saturday, August 9 in Batesville. The Bulldog Chase 5K is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m.
