Harrison's Dearwester, Kinsel Compete at National Championships in Fargo

Some of top high school wrestlers in the country converged at the Fargodome this week.

(Fargo, ND.) – The Harrison High School girls wrestling program continues to do big things. 

The 2022 USMC/USAW Junior and Cadet National Championships wraps up Friday at the Fargodome in Fargo, North Dakota.

The event featured some of the top high school wrestlers in the country, including two standouts from Harrison High School, Chloe Dearwester and Lilly Kinsel.

According to USA Wrestling, with just shy of 1,000 entries, the USMC Junior Women's Nationals at Fargo is the largest girls event in history. 

Dearwester competed for Team Ohio’s Junior Women’s Freestyle Team, while Kinsel was rostered on the U16 and Junior Freestyle teams.

Dearwester placed 4th in the 106 lbs. tournament with a 5-2 record.

  • Round of 64 - Def. Megan Spencer (Arkansas) 5-0
  • Round of 32 - Def.  Teegan Sibble (New York) 6-0
  • Round of 16 – Def. Alexsys Jacquez (Colorado) 8-1
  • Quarterfinals – Def. Kadence Beck (Idaho) 8-5
  • Semifinals – Lost to Aspen Blasko (Minnesota) 12-1
  • Consolation – Def. Mikayla Garcia (California) 4-0
  • 3rd Place – Lost to Ava Ward (Missouri) 6-0

Kinsel competed at 138 lbs. on the U16 and Junior Freestyle teams, winning two of her 10 matches.

Overall, Ohio’s Junior Women placed 8th while the 16U Team finished 13th.
