$12,000 in grants were distributed to local nonprofits.

(Ripley County, Ind.) - On April 23rd the Ripley County Community Foundation’s initiative, the Women’s Giving Circle, warmly welcomed gusts to a luncheon celebrating philanthropy and rallying support for programs addressing issues that predominantly affect women and children. The Women’s Giving Circle brings together women from varied backgrounds and generations, pooling their resources to effect significant change in the lives of women and children throughout Ripley County.

At the heart of the event was keynote speaker, Nancy Bocskor, a powerhouse consultant, author, and educator dedicated to empowering women in politics and nonprofit leadership. Her powerful words resonated with attendees as she reminded us that the ability to achieve our dreams and effect positive change lies within each of us. She ignited a sense of empowerment by detailing the impact and influence small acts have on others.

The true testament to the impact of the Women’s Giving Circle lies in the tangible results it produces. Thanks to the dedication and generosity of its 170 members, $12,000 in grants were distributed to local nonprofits, allowing them to address pressing needs and uplift the most vulnerable members of our community. This year’s recipients are:

Batesville Young Life – To support their annual summer camp program so that every BYIL member can attend irrespective of the cost.

Englishton Park – To sponsor 8 Ripley County children to attend Englishton Park in the summer. These children face significant challenges that impact every facet of their lives and this camp serves as a breath of fresh air and changes the trajectory of their life.

Hoosier Girl Defense – To provide a cyber safety class to Batesville High School and Oldenburg Academy students to educate them on elements and dangers they may face in the mobile connected world.

Safe Passage – To provide transitional housing for domestic abuse survivors, giving them a safe, comfortable space to reside.

Southeastern Indiana Voices for Children – To support the volunteers who work tirelessly to advocate for abused and neglected children through consistent connection.

Youth to Yellowstone – To sponsor the 2024 trip to Yellowstone National Park. This trip will build confidence and inspire a hope for a brighter future for local teens who have not had the opportunity to experience life outside of Ripley County.

The Women’s Giving Circle is a force for positive change and will continue their efforts throughout 2024. Join us and the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce on June 4th for a Women’s Leadership Series lunch with Kim Ryan, President and CEO of Hillenbrand.
