(Aurora, Ind.) - It has been a longtime coming, but Women Armed and Ready (WAR) have officially broke ground on a new training facility.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Sunday at the training facility’s site along State Road 56 in Aurora.

The training facility is made possible through a $20,000 grant from Friends of the NRA in the spring, in addition to fundraising banquets.

The facility will be a work in progress, but WAR will host its first class at the site on Sunday.

Vice President April Combs tells Eagle Country 99.3 that future plans included adding simulators, a classroom, and retail center. The training facility will also host several events such as CTW class, regular member classes, and youth safety classes.

“It is really important to teach future generations gun safety, and teach women how to handle guns,” said Combs.

Women Armed and Ready provides education in firearms, training, safe firearms storage, state and local conceal carry laws, the Second Amendment, and recognizing and reacting to harmful situations.
