Wet Week Helps Set New Rain Record

(Miamitown, Oh.) - More rain Tuesday morning has creeks and streams spilling out of their banks.

Now totaling 66.6 inches for the year, the National Weather Service says rainfall Monday shattered Greater Cincinnati’s unofficial rainfall record of 65.2 inches in 1847. The area had already shattered the official record of 57.6 inches in 1990 over a month ago.

A Flood Warning is in effect for the Great Miami River at Miamitown. The river is expected to reach flood stage of 16 feet late Tuesday morning, then peak at 19 feet before falling on Thursday.

A Flood Watch for most of the Eagle 99.3 listening area was lifted at 4:00 a.m.

With all the recent rains, the weather service says this November has become the wettest on record for the Cincinnati area with 7.71 inches. The previous record was 7.51 inches set in 1985.

Temperatures will turn cold Tuesday as the morning high of 43 tumbles through the day.

The overnight low will be 32. An 80 percent chance of snow comes Tuesday night with little to no accumulation expected.
