(Brookville, Ind.) - A police pursuit stretched from Cedar Grove to Brookville before the suspect was handcuffed.

It was just after 11:00 Tuesday night, April 24, when Indiana State Police learned a man wanted on a warrant was traveling west on Interstate 74, entering Indiana from Ohio.

A trooper spotted the described vehicle, a gold Cadillac passenger car, after it had exited I-74 onto U.S. 52 westbound in West Harrison. The driver, 25-year-old Caleb Ludwick, of Cleves, initially pulled over for the trooper near Big Cedar Road in Franklin County, however, he fled in his vehicle toward Brookville before he could be taken into custody.

Ludwick wrecked into two unattended vehicles as he fled on foot into an apartment building in Brookville. The trooper and Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies pursued Ludwick as he entered an apartment where he had been known to stay. He was taken into custody without further incident.

A mugshot of Ludwick shows numerous bruises and lacerations on his face.

"The injuries to Ludwick's face occurred during an altercation prior to him coming into contact with law enforcement and were not caused by law enforcement,” explained Indiana State Police Sgt. Stephen Wheeles.

Ludwick is charged with Resisting Law Enforcement in a Vehicle, Resisting Law Enforcement on Foot, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Reckless Driving. State police said he was wanted in Ohio for Distributing a Controlled Substance.

Ludwick is being held in jail in Franklin County awaiting his initial appearance in court there. After answering to the charges in Indiana, he’ll be transferred back to Ohio to appear in court on those charges.
