Walton Man Identified as Victim of Fatal Dixie Highway Accident

The accident happened near Logistics Boulevard in Walton.

(Walton, Ky.) – One person sustained fatal injuries in a single vehicle crash on Dixie Highway.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred on Tuesday at 6:59 a.m. near Logistics Boulevard in Walton.

Lance Mathews, 34, of Walton, was identified as the victim.

Upon arrival to the scene, deputies located Mathews trapped under his pickup truck.

Through the investigation it was discovered that Mathews was texting his girlfriend late Monday night and told her that he was “going on a drive”. Mathews was communicating via text message when their conversation abruptly ended near the scene of the accident at 11:46 p.m.

Alcohol and distracted driving are considered as contributing factors to the collision.
