WalletHub: Best And Worst States For Summer Road Trips

More than $792 billion is spent on leisure travel each year.

(Undated) - Since COVID-19 vaccinations have allowed many states to open up, many Americans are planning to hit the road this summer.  

WalletHub has released their 2021 Best and Worst States for Summer Road Trips 

According to WalletHub, over two-thirds of Americans are planning to take a vacation with 59 percent of U.S. families more likely to drive than fly. 

Several factors go into choosing a vacation destination including gas prices, accommodations, activities and dining. 

Using 33 key metrics, the top road trip states are New York, Texas and Louisiana. Rhode Island, Connecticut and Delaware fall at the bottom of the list. 

Locally, Indiana falls 34th on the list, Ohio is 17th and Kentucky came in at 36th.
