Road work - complete with flaggers - will delay motorists on U.S. 50 in Ripley County.

(Ripley County, Ind.) - Indiana Department of Transportation’s contractor for the $4 million repair and resurfacing project on 17.5 miles of U.S. Highway 50 between the Jennings/ Ripley County line and State Road 101 plans to begin milling and surface paving operations, weather permitting, on Monday (SEPT 24).

Next week’s operations will focus on the section of U.S. 50 between Versailles and a terminus just east of S.R. 101.

Traffic will be flagged around crews and equipment during daytime hours.

INDOT officials advise motorists to drive with extra caution through this curvy 7-mile stretch of U.S. 50—workers and machinery could be around the next bend.

Dave O’Mara of North Vernon is the state’s prime contractor.

U.S. 50’s traffic count is 9,800 vehicle per day.  The contract completion date is November 15.
