The road depression on U.S. 50 in Lawrenceburg was caused by a possible underground pipe failure discovered last week.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Repairs are about to start on that depression in the roadway on U.S. 50 Eastbound in Lawrenceburg.
The Indiana Department of Transportation says a possible pipe failure beneath the road led to the dip appearing in the right lane of U.S. 50 at Front Street last Friday. Since then, the road depression has been covered with a steel plate.
INDOT says crews will be back on the scene Wednesday, August 14 to begin making repairs.
“Crews will locate utilities, then dig under the roadway to evaluate any damage and begin repairs,” according to INDOT.
The right lane of U.S. 50 Eastbound will be closed starting at 9:00 a.m. It is unknown how long the lane will be closed.
If the lane is closed for an extended length of time, it could likely lead to backups on U.S. 50 heading east, especially in the mornings.
