(Moores Hill, Ind.) - A Milan man is now a guest in the Dearborn County jail after deputies say he entered a couple’s home uninvited.

Deputies were called to a home on Stamper Road near Moores Hill on Sunday, March 31 when the homeowners called 911 reporting a man they did not know entered their home. According to a court affidavit, the residents confronted the intruder, who left after a brief argument.

A suspect and vehicle matching the description were stopped on Stamper Road. That driver was identified as 30-year-old Jesse W. Carfield.

The couple identified Carfield as the intruder. He had entered the home using a spare key hidden under a rock outside the home, deputies said.

This may not be the first time Carfield has attempted to enter a home uninvited. Another area resident tells Eagle Country 99.3 that Carfield showed up at their home on Saturday night, March 30. The resident says emergency dispatchers were called about the incident that night.

Carfield is now charged with Residential Entry (level 6 felony) and Operating While Suspended (class A misdemeanor) for the Sunday incident. Citing previous criminal convictions for identity deception, leaving the scene of an accident, and demonstrating a risk of failure to appear, a judge has set his bond at $10,000 surety and $2,000 cash.

He has been ordered to have no direct or indirect contact with the victims.
